IBPS RRB Clerk 2026 Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for the selection to the post of Office Assistant is quite different to that of the exam pattern for the selection to the post of Officer Grade. For IBPS RRB Office Assistant, the Exam will be conducted in two phases:

IBPS RRB Language Proficiency Test (LPT)

Candidates selected for the post of Office Assistant (Multipurpose) are required to qualify the Language Proficiency Test (LPT) in the local language of the State/UT for which they have applied. The LPT is conducted to assess whether candidates can read, write, speak, and understand the prescribed local language.

Candidates who have already studied the language of the State/UT at the 10th standard level or above are exempted from appearing for the LPT, subject to the conditions mentioned in the official notification. The LPT is conducted after the online examination and before the final appointment. Candidates who fail to qualify the required language proficiency may not be considered for appointment.

IBPS RRB Interview Stage

Candidates who clear the Main Exam for Officer Scale I and the Single Exam for Officer Scale II and III in IBPS RRB CRP will be called for an interview. The interview will be arranged by the Nodal RRB with help from NABARD and IBPS.

  1. The interview will be held at selected centres. The venue, date, and time will be shared through the interview call letter.
  2. Candidates must download their call letter from the official IBPS website: www.ibps.in.
  3. Requests for changing the interview date or centre will not be accepted, but IBPS may change these details in special situations.

Interview Details:

  1. Total Marks: 100
  2. Minimum Qualifying Marks: 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD)
  3. The final result will be based on a weightage of 80% from the online exam and 20% from the interview.
  4. If a candidate fails to score the minimum marks in the interview, their interview score won’t be shared.
